Welcome to Life...and other tales of woe!

I'm Jen, 30 years old and living on an RAF base near Northallerton, North Yorkshire with my husband, 2 cats and a beagle called Smeagol.

I earn my living as an English teacher in a secondary school and sixth form in York and I love my job...most of the time! It can be a very stressful job but I get to talk about books all day and spend time with kids who are genuinely delightful. 

My husband (for the sake of his privacy, I'll simply refer to him as Military Man or MM for short), works in the Royal Air Force and as such, can be away for weeks or sometimes months at a time. We've been together for 13 years and married for 2 so it's safe to say we've pretty much grown up with each other. 

I've attempted blogs before and kept them up for a few months before they lagged in to uncertainty and irrelevance but as I am about to embark on 52 weeks of maternity leave with my first baby, I wanted to create something that would give me space to still be a thinking, intellectual adult (whilst also allowing me to vent/gush/share my general day to day happenings.)

By no means do I lead a glamourous or exciting life. I plan to post as often as I can about my interests: food and cooking, education, fashion and lifestyle, motherhood....just life. If that interests you, stick around and leave a comment or two if you like. That would make me smile!
